False Color Bands

About this image

In false color THEMIS images at high latitudes ice/frost will typically appear as bright blue in color; dust mantled ice will appear in tones of red/orange. In a gray scale image, the suble variations seen in this false color image are almost impossible to identify. Note the orange band in the center of the frame, and the bluer bands to either side of it.
