About this image

Today's VIS image shows part of Ariadnes Colles. The term colles means hills or knobs. The hills appear brighter than the surrounding lowlands, likely due to relatively less dust cover. This image was taken early in the morning and the low sun angle is casting shadows to the left side of each hill. Ariadnes Colles is located in Terra Cimmeria.
