The channel in today's VIS image is called Auqakuh Vallis. Large channels on Mars are named for the word "mars/star" in different languages on Earth, small channels are named for rivers on Earth. "Auqakuh" is the word "mars" in Quechua (Inca). Augakuh Vallis is 347 km long (215 miles).
