About this image

In false color THEMIS images at high latitudes ice/frost will typically appear as bright blue in color; dust mantled ice will appear in tones of red/orange. This false color image of a crater rim illustrates just how complete the dust cover can be. The small white/blue regions on the rim are of areas where the dust cover has been removed - due to heating on sun facing slopes or by gravitational effects.

Please see the THEMIS Data Citation Note for details on crediting THEMIS images.
