Matara Crater, the crater with a large sand deposit on its floor, is located near the center of this VIS image. A large sand sheet dominates the floor of this crater located in Noachis Terra. The top of the sand sheet has been sculpted by the wind, creating dune forms. Matara Crater is 48km (30 miles) in diameter.
