About this image

The channel in the center of this VIS image empties into an unnamed crater. The sediments carried by the water dropped out and formed a delta deposit where the channel crossed the crater rim. This delta deposit indicates that a lake existed in this crater at some point in the Martian past. The crater and channel are located in Claritas Fossae.
