About this image

Today's VIS image shows a portion of Niger Vallis. Located south of Hadriacus Mons, Niger Vallis and the nearby Dao Vallis appear to have been created by outflow of subsurface water heated by volcanic activity in the area. Both channels drain into Hellas Planitia. Niger Vallis is 360km long (223 miles).
