About this image

Today's VIS image shows part of Biblis Tholus, including part of the summit caldera (Biblis Patera). This volcano is located west of Pavonis Mons and is just one of the numerous smaller volcanoes found in the Tharsis region. It rises about 3 kilometers above its surrounding terrain. The caldera is about 53 kilometers (33 miles) in diameter and has a depth of approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles)
