Alba Mons Flank

Today's VIS image is located on the western flank of Alba Mons. This region is highly dissected by channels (top of image). Alba Mons is a broad volcano, surrounded by graben features created by a huge volcanic eruption followed by the collapse of the volcano into the underlying empty magma chamber. Alba Mons is 6.8km tall (4.2 miles).
